3/4  --ÒBeware the Dream SellersÓ (2nd Peter 2:17-22)

In this last part of 2nd Peter, Peter is going to warn us of Dream Sellers, though he calls them false teachers. Peter is going to point out that false teachers have learned that the best lure, the best bait for catching a person and keeping them from obeying God, is to find that dream in each person, and promise it to them.  Peter is going to describe these folks and tell us how to beware of them

3/11 – ÒIs itÉ.THE LAST THING WE THINK ABOUT?Ó (2nd Peter 3:1-7)

What is it that drives the critical decisions of each one of our lives?  It could be that right now some of you are in the midst of an intensely difficult decision, maybe one of the toughest of your lives.  Often the information you need to make the right decision is not new information, but information you already know, but that has been pushed out of the decision making loop in your lives. Come find out what that is.

3/18 – ÒTHE END!Ó (2nd Peter 3:8-13)

Two of the most final words in the English language are ÒThe End.Ó  Every song finally fades out, and at every movie premiere, the credits begin to roll, signaling the end.  In our passage this morning, Peter is going to share prior knowledge to us of the greatest ÒThe EndÓ this world has ever known since its creation. What information could be so monumental in nature, so world shaking, so life altering—it is the truth of the 2nd coming of Christ.  The sequel to the Christmas story, the finale to history, the moment of judgment for sinful man and a world slowly deteriorating under the corrosion of sin. But he shares this information with us not for the purpose of enlightening us, but drastically changing our Monday morning decisions about our entire life.

3/25 ÔÕ ÒJoining the Battle!Ó (2nd Peter 3:14-18)

2,000 years ago, God entered our world in the form of a child, who grew and challenged the lies that were being perpetuated.  He then entrusted the battle against lies and deceptions to His 12 apostles, who then entrusted them to others.  And so it has continued down through the centuries, Christianity is always one generation away from extinction.  Today, we, you and I, are the church, and the battle is ours, the truth has now been passed to us.  What will our children, what will the next generation, inherit from us? What shape will the truth be in when it gets passed to them?  What will be your legacy?

May 6th—ÒLiving PortraitsÓ (Potential series name)  ÒJoseph: Keeping your faith intact when your world comes apartÓ

One of the greatest missing ingredients in the lives of so many people is the ingredient of hope.  Some of us right now are having a hard time keeping our faith intact, because our world is coming apart, and we have no hope that it's going to get any better.  All the signs are negative, and we are emotionally depleted.  Through the wonderful story of Joseph, we are going to see a man who went through the same kind of situation.  The story of Joseph is a story of hope!!  How will God give YOU hope?

May 13thLiving Portraits: ÒJONATHAN: The High Cost of Loyalty"

1 Samuel 18--2 Samuel 1

One of the issues that people deal with in their lives is the question of how do you react when you are suddenly faced with conflict in loyalties; loyalties to your own flesh and blood, and loyalties to your God? In the life of Jonathan we are going to look at the high cost of loyalty. Jonathan, like many of us, was faced inevitably with a choice of conflict in loyalties.  A loyal and loving son to his father Saul, he struggled to be faithful to God, and his friend David.

May 20th Living Portraits Pastor Luis (special character study—Dan will be preaching at Chinese church)

May 27thLiving Portraits ÒABIGAIL: Living with and loving Unbelievers and other strangers. 1 Samuel 25

Are you in a difficult relationship? At home, at work, in your neighborhood?  You are there for a purpose that only God knows.  One day, like Abigail, you may be able to look back and understand it better. But it is quite possible that you have been called to a ministry of preservation, of saving lives.  Not necessarily physically, but spiritually. Your life in many ways will be more difficult.  Your burdens will be heavier, but so were Joseph's and Abigail's and Moses before you. The ministry of a preserver is a special ministry, and God does not choose us all for it.  Learn how to live with and love unbelievers and other strangers.

June 3rdLiving Portraits: ÒOBADIAH: Position Filled!" 1 Kings 18

We are going to be looking at a minor character who was involved in a major issue.  One that we often have to deal with; our lives as Christians on the job!  Too many Christians see a separation between their lives as Christians at church, and their lives on the job.  In fact, some believe that the only time they can truly be spiritual is at church; that work is only a necessity that has to be endured.

Our character this morning, Obadiah, had just such a situation, and we can learn some valuable lessons from his life and example.  Learn how God has prepared you for the place HeÕs put you!
